Heal Your Expectations

What we expect from life is usually what we get from it. If we expect prosperity and honor – that’s what we work toward and receive. If we expect poverty and disruption, that too is something we can achieve.

To heal your life, to put yourself in the situation you desire, start by healing your expectations. Easier said than done? Perhaps, but if you follow a plan for healing you’re very likely to achieve good results.

Start by listing elements of the life you aspire to. What will your income, relationships, and surroundings be like? Use detail. Put it in writing. Include tangibles (a new vacuum cleaner, perfectly compatible neighbors) and intangibles (better ability to concentrate, ability to read faster).

Once I came across a wish list I’d made years before, and was delighted to see that nearly every item on the list was part of my then-current reality. Well, you’re going to go through a similar process, so choose your desired elements of living wisely and well. What is really important, as opposed to what’s inconsequential?

Next, create a list of intentions and affirmations to use while manifesting your new life.

Third, say your intentions once, and your affirmations daily (or as often as possible) for a few weeks. Then let it all go and allow Source to work on and change your life.

Fourth, have faith in the process. Have you read The Magic of Believing?

Fifth, Be grateful in advance for all the help Source Energy (God) is giving you!

Now then, you’ve changed your expectations of life and soon your circumstances will change to come into alignment with your new, more positive mindset. All elements of your preferred life will reach you at the appropriate time.

The Power of Flexibility

The person who expects the unexpected and welcomes surprises as challenges rather than as roadblocks is going to be much more comfortable with difficulties than is an inflexible person who has rigid expectations of what life should provide. We’ve entered an era during which humanity may experience devastating shocks on both a personal and global scale. We need to be willing to accept unwelcome changes and move ahead gracefully.

Water is a flexible element. It flows downhill in whatever channel is most convenient. If a river’s course is suddenly altered after thousands of years, the water doesn’t stop to complain. It doesn’t put up a fight. It just keeps flowing on in the new direction, regardless of traditions of the past.

We need to be like that water, ready to take our place in the new world, and willing to give up the past without resistance. Embrace the present moment as it is our opportunity to free ourselves of useless desires for things that can no longer be. It is also the best time – the only time we have – to alter our attitudes and accept the challenges now before us.

Elevate your consciousness! Let the bird of your spirituality fly high above the morass of human controversy and denial. There are things we can’t change (the world’s corruption) and there are things we can change (our own outlook on life). This is the only real freedom we get – the freedom to mentally, spiritually fly above each unpleasant situation because our consciousness has been raised to a level above the evil that plagues humanity.

The more people are able to elevate their spiritual consciousness — the more there are doing it — the more likely it is that there will be a massive shift in consciousness for the vast majority of humanity, and when that happens, evil will be overwhelmed by goodness, and love will finally prevail.

You can be part of that change by preparing yourself spiritually to be flexible enough to flow through turmoil and chaos when it appears in the civilization around you, without any trauma to your emotional or mental bodies.

Remember this phrase: Fly Above The Situation – meaning, mentally soar in higher consciousness when difficulties assail you.

A Well-Ordered Day

To be well-ordered our day must be balanced and our priorities must be set straight. A well-ordered day includes a mix of activities but will focus on the most important projects that need to be completed. Efficiency will be the result.

Often we’re torn between tasks needing to be done, requests from others for a slice of our time (and energy), and housework – there’s always that! I usually put requests from others near the top of my priority list – especially if those others are relatives needing help, however that can be overdone. One should never become a doormat always doing for others and giving no time to personal creative projects. Balance is needed because creativity is food for our souls. The value of creative projects should never be ignored. Ever.

Quiet meditation and prayer will help us prioritize our lives. Give five or fifteen minutes to silence and see what comes to mind. Those projects that nag most at you, that may even cause long-lasting pangs of guilt, do them first. Get them out of the way so you can enjoy the rest of your life. Make a guilt list. Anything on that list needs to be done right away. Don’t let the bad thoughts linger. You deserve peace of mind.

Note: I chose the “Well-Ordered Day” topic today because the date is “8-9-10″ (August 9, 2010). Order is called for!
