Raise The Vibe

I’m focusing on raising the vibe in my local community these days. I live in a small community in the mountains, so you might think that is easier than doing the same in a city, but our community has many problems, and unhappy souls, just like anywhere. I try not to focus on these negative aspects of our reality here but instead want to focus on seeing the heart-light in everyone I meet.

Just like most of you, I’ve had negative encounters. Because this is a very small community I re-see the people I had trouble with quite often. Small towns are like that. You go to the store, well, there she is. Then to the post office… well, look who got there first (as I wait in my van until she leaves.) Just like many of you, I need to change my ways, to open my heart just a little bit more, and I need to pour out my love on these people whose behavior traits caused me pain in the past.

Of course, this time I won’t allow them to hurt me, because I won’t be subjected to their struggles for power and dominance. This time will be different because I’m getting my power from the Divine Light… and this Divine Light is also available to the people who hurt me, because, after all, they are also creations of the Source Spirit. Their hearts contain that Divine Light, and perhaps they are like children who haven’t grown up enough to notice that Light shining. Or maybe they know a lot more than I think they do! I hope that my spirit-felt expression of love (not verbal) will help them realize that they too have access to the Divinity that they are. I want that for them all!

Each time we can forgive a transgression and extend our love, we are raising the vibe in our community. But it goes beyond that. There are many people here I don’t know, or know only remotely. Giving them my focus and love for a while may awaken their desires to attain knowledge of their own spirituality. All this can be done spirit-to-spirit, without words.

We can go beyond that, and put our message into words. Here, the way to do that would be to place a poster on the local bulletin boards. I mentioned to a friend that I wanted to do that and he said, “Oh no, don’t you dare do that around here – they’ll think you’re crazy. If you ever move to Mt. Shasta you can do that there and people will accept it.”

Well, I disagree with that assessment. The people in our small town need this message a lot more than the people in Mt. Shasta where there are many spiritual teachers available. Here, it would be like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. Those who want to be connected to the Love would notice. Others might smirk, but honestly, I don’t care. I’d like for their inmost hearts to be attracted. They might smirk for three weeks then on the fourth week, during a down moment, realize that Love is the answer. Love is what we need. Love, not just for our own selves, our immediate family, our clan or tribe, our co-workers and cronies as opposed to rivals… but a Great Love is needed… one that encompasses every soul in our community.

If you live in a large city you can raise the vibe by promoting groups and organizations that contribute to a high spiritual vibe. You can distribute information that helps the lost find the Light. And you can do the most important thing of all – raise your own vibe. When you raise your vibe by meditating, prayer, chanting the ancient mantras, and cleaning up your diet and any other aspect of your life needing attention, you will affect everyone around you in a positive way.
