The Ancients in India and Atlantis

October 27, 2009

I recently listened to an illuminating conversation about Atlantis, between George Noory and Frank Joseph Hoff on Coast to Coast AM, that mind-bending, sometimes illuminating all-night talk radio show I subscribe to via the Streamlink feature.

Hoff stated that the area of the Indian Ocean once was occupied by Lemurian Atlantis, a continent that was the location of paradise (Eden) and which was destroyed by flood 11,600 years ago. This information comes from the studies of Brazilian Dr. Arysio Nunes dos Santos, a scientist and educator whose most recent job, prior to his death, was that of a professor of nuclear engineering.

This information about Lemuria / Atlantis (See Dr. Nunes dos Santos’ book: Atlantis, The Lost Continent Finally Found) brought my attention to ancient civilizations of India and Indonesia, where there are temple and other buildings dating from pre-history, that may very well have been created by Atlanteans either before the cataclysm or afterwards - they may have been created by survivors of the ancient disaster.

It seems clear that if any places contain the markings of a culture so ancient to be created by the Lemurians, it would be India and Indonesia. Dr. Nunes dos Santos stated in his FAQ that “Lemurian Atlanteans colonized the nearby region of India, which became its ‘twin’ and partner. In mythical terms, we can say that Lemuria-Indonesia was the Mother, and that Atlantis-India was the Father of all the other civilizations,” and that “Atlantis created a worldwide empire, and had colonies the world over.” This accounts for locations such as Bimini, perhaps, where a road was found underwater.

“… Atlantis . . . was an island greater in extent than Libya and Asia, and when afterwards sunk by an earthquake, became an impassable barrier of mud to voyagers sailing from hence to any part of the ocean.” - Plato (Critias)

Today I came across SarvaShiva, a blog with wisdom from the Rig Veda. In Rig Veda as-is the blogger suggests “it would be worth learning Sanskrit to connect with our ancients in their language and syntax.” I have been considering this for a while now, ever since I listened to that radio show about Atlantis. I’ve been listening to Indian music including the beautiful mantra singing of Deva Premal and Sacred Movement: White Swan Yoga Masters Vol. 1., and yearn to understand more of the Sanskrit.

I have done the research for the best book to start with, and after revealing my intent to my partner, Bob, (surprisingly) he told me to get the book because he wants to learn Sanskrit too! I will keep you posted on how that goes for us.

This is the book I’m buying: Introduction to Sanskrit, Part 1. It is said to be an excellent primer and has good reviews on Amazon. The concept of learning such an ancient language appeals to me. First, it attracts me because I have a desire to know how the ancient people related to one another. Second, it is the language of the mantras and will help me understand and identify myself with them better. Third, I have heard that one way to keep the mind young and active in old age is to learn a language, and I am at that age where this kind of mental exercise could be very, very helpful. So Sanskrit it is!
