Being Me

October 25, 2009

I keep refining the purpose of this blog, and as I do it I see I’m looking for more authentic ways to just be me. Me and my blog - a natural fit which I seem to think needs to please other people just because it is on the internet. But must it? Seriously, is it wrong to have a blog that mainly pleases just me?

I’ve done a lot of internet writing over the last ten years. Much of it has been to try to fill the needs of other people. I resist posting for my own edification. It is too public! But this blog is a very deep, personal journey from spiritual seeking to finding, to seeking for more, understanding deeper truths, and sharing. What I most want to share is the authentic spiritual seeking that goes on behind my outward appearance. I want to share the spirit of spiritual service that combines with everything else that is me.

No two seekers will be the same, but we have similarities. Everyone is unique, but tied to the cosmic adventure of being human. I can speak only from my perspective, and admire the spiritual seeking perspectives of others. Sometimes they inspire me, and send me off in new directions.

Today’s thought is simply this - to be oneself, to appreciate the joy within oneself.

An affirmation for this: “I am unique and able to share my authentic self.”

Yesterday as I wrote my morning pages my mind turned into a spiritual direction of prayer and healing for the world. I gathered my journaling into a lens called Prayer for Healing the World. My idea is that we can pray for those that oppress us and in healing them, the world will become healed. Please join me in trying this . . .

Affirmation: Time to de-stress!

July 12, 2009

Here’s a very simple affirmation for today: “I can relax and enjoy life.”

Say it ten times and write it on a card where you’ll see it later. Every time you notice the card, say this another ten times. Affirmations work by programming your sub-conscious mind.

I’m formulating these affirmations during a meditation session especially for finding a divinely inspired affirmation to post here. This one was probably also inspired by a Coast to Coast AM show I listened to recently, The Psychic Special. (You must be a Streamlink member to listen to it at this point.) The last psychic on the show was Dr. Mona Lisa Schulz. She spoke of medical conditions being outward evidence of internal truths. One of my medical conditions is high blood pressure, so I reason that must mean I’m feeling pressured. Indeed, looking back I can see I developed this condition at a time of my life that I was under an enormous amount of stress. Therefore, I need to learn to live without stress. I believe that’s why this affirmation came up during this morning’s meditation session.

Handling negative self-talk when saying affirmations

If you find yourself with negative thoughts while you’re saying affirmations, there’s a technique you can use to counter them. Get a piece of paper and fold it in half lengthwise. Say your affirmation, then write down the first negative thought that comes to mind.

Example –
Affirmation: “I can relax and enjoy life.”
Backlash: “No you can’t. There’s nothing to enjoy.”
Write this down on the paper, then on same line, on the other half of the paper, write a response such as “There’s plenty to enjoy in life,” or “I enjoy taking long walks and smelling flowers.”

Fill the entire page with your negative self-talk comments and your positive, specific responses. You will overcome negativity, and your sub-conscious mind will respond beautifully.

Affirmation: You are loved

July 11, 2009

Today’s affirmation: “I connect with the source of joy and know I am loved.”

We connect with joy through meditation. This joy comes through the heart chakra and is illuminated through the crown chakra. Meditate for joy, for peace, for happiness. And you will, without a doubt, know you are dearly loved by the Divinity that surrounds you and pervades your being.

Affirmation: Happiness

July 10, 2009

A simple but powerful affirmation today: “Life is beautiful and I am happy.”

Dispel all negativity by affirming that indeed we have a life in which beauty plays a great part, and there’s no reason to deny ourselves happiness. Saying this line ten times gives a ray of sunshine… a direct connection to the beauty of Spirit within us.
